OMI 1.29 "Proficiency in Crisis Management and Human Behaviour Training, Including Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity Training"

Purpose


The aim of this IMO Model Course 1.29 is to meet the minimum mandatory requirements for the training of personnel of Ro-Ro and non Ro-Ro passenger ships. This course complies with rules established in STCW, rule V/2, section A-V/2 and rule V/3, section A/V3.


Target Group


Masters, Officers and Ratings working in passenger ships.


Entry Requirements


In compliance with the STCW provisions, this course is aimed at every person assigned responsibilities on board passenger ships and Ro-Ro passenger ships.


Number of Participants


Maximum: 25 students.
Minimum: 15 students.


General Objectives


At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Organize the safe movement of vehicles and passengers when embarking and disembarking.
  • Control all elements of cargo safety and hull integrity.
  • Monitor and control atmosphere in Ro-Ro cargo spaces.
  • Control passengers and personnel during emergency situations.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications.
  • Optimize use of resources on board.

I. Loading and embarking procedures.
II. Transport of dangerous cargo.
III. Cargo lashing.
IV. Calculations of stability, cross-flooding and stress.
V. Opening, closing and securing of hull openings.
VI. Ro-Ro atmosphere in deck.
VII. Ship design, distribution, emergency plans, procedures and drills.
VIII. Optimizing resources.
IX. Control response during emergencies.
X. Human behaviour and response.
XI. Establish and maintain effective communications.


Approval Requirements


  • Minimum attendance: 90%
  • Written evaluation.
  • Minimum passing grade: 6,0 (On a scale from 1 to 10)
