Women in Maritime

Chile actively promotes the participation and integration of women in the maritime sector through its leadership role in the Network of Women of the Maritime Authorities of Latin America (MAMLa Network).

Over the past two years, our country has encouraged and supported women's involvement in various international events, such as the commemoration of the IMO International Day for Women in Maritime and the development of the MAMLa Network's strategy for the period 2025-2029.

 At the national level, strategic alliances have been formed with various organizations to create programs that enhance the integration of women in the maritime and port sector. Special attention has been given to women seafarers serving on vessels of the National Merchant Marine. The main objective of these programs is to raise awareness of women's contributions to the maritime sector and to develop best practices that facilitate their integration.
