Technical Cooperation

Our country recognises that technical assistance and cooperation are key to the effective and comprehensive implementation of the international instruments adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The Chilean Maritime Authority, therefore, regularly provides support to different maritime administrations in South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Africa through bilateral cooperation and the IMO's Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP), as well as other regional organisations.

During the 2023-2024 biennium, we conducted several cooperation activities, providing technical assistance and sharing experiences in areas such as IMO audits, maritime casualty investigations, navigation in polar waters, safety and security of port facilities, and maritime education and training competencies.

In 2024, we resumed hosting the visit of students from the Maritime Law and Policy specialization of the MSc in Maritime Affairs Program at the World Maritime University, where students have the opportunity to learn about the functions of the main entities of the national maritime administration.
